We are grateful for another successful academic year, which concluded earlier in July. All of our students were conveyed by two buses and a land cruiser to their respective communities. These movements were organized by the admin office in collaboration with the school administration. Students from the farthest communities, such as Fintonia and Gbenekoro, were prioritized.
Regardless of the challenges associated with the buses, the organization has been able to consistently transport students to and from their local communities. In the first term, students were dropped off and collected from their communities, and the same will be done in the third term for students going home from Rokassa.
The morning of July 11, we learned through social media of the collapse of the Kamakwei/Makeni Bridge, which had occurred overnight. Fortunately, our students from Fintonia had been transported across this bridge to their communities on July 9 and were not affected by the incident. We are so thankful that the bridge did not give way during their transport back to their families. However, we did learn that q truck driver sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital. We pray for his speedy recovery. We are kindly requesting that you join us in praying for the safety of our students during the holiday, as well as the speedy reconstruction of the bridge before school resumes in September. The bridge is the only route through which students can return to school. Otherwise, there will be unprecedented challenges in students returning to school on time. We thank you for your continued prayer and support for EduNations and the students and staff in Sierra Leone. |
