Hassan Koroma was born in Sierra Leone, from a village called Mafokoya Yoni Chiefdom, Tonkoklili District, and received his primary education in a university town named Njala Mokonda, Moyamba District. He received his secondary school and first teacher's training in Makeni City, the provisional headquarters town of the north. After many years of working productively in various capacities within the educational sector, Reverend Hassan joined EduNations in 2016 as an Education Officer, until 2021. From January 2021 to August 2024, he served as the founding principal of EduNations’ Senior Secondary School in Rokassa. While in this role, Rev. Hassan was instrumental in establishing all the rules and regulations of the operations of the school; and in collaboration with the EduNations administrative team, conceived policies which reflected the country's educational aspirations. |
During his tenure, Rev. Hassan saw two sets of Senior Secondary School (SSS) students complete their West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), with the first set achieving a hundred percent pass rate. Furthermore, he successfully operated a mixed school boarding home for students and staff, where strict Christian values are upheld at all times.
“Working for EduNations was a dream come true in my life.” says Reverend Hassan. Although he had served as an Academic Dean and Education coordinator in Freetown, Rev Hassan’s dream was to serve the less privileged. But as God could have it, he came across EduNations and was moved with their vision of providing quality education to under-resourced communities. After eight years of active service, Rev. Hassan had to make a rather painful decision to retire from his role as principal. His retirement celebration was incorporated into the most recent graduation ceremony held at Rokassa; where the president of EduNations presented him with a thank you plaque of appreciation for his unquantifiable service with EduNations. He was profusely celebrated by staff and students. Rev. Hassan now looks forward to having a productive retirement, as he continues to serve as a pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Sierra Leone. He also looks forward to spending quality time with his amazing grandchildren. |
